The primary goal of women's development activities would be to support women in the long-term creation of income-generating enterprises in or around the home. in a few pilot villages. This might also be one of the primary goals of the self-help female groups developed with the Project's assistance through group marketing activities.
DLTC International encourages vulnerable women to participate in income-generating activities (IGAs) which are something that they do to make money, for example starting a business to generate a profit.
A livelihoods recovery programme can help community members to start up their own IGAs through providing business training, business grants and business mentoring. The training equips the beneficiaries with knowledge and skills to better manage their earnings, expenditures, and savings for personal and or group wellbeing.
It’s important for the beneficiaries to be trained in savings and credit; entrepreneurship and business; gender and rights; life skills training; and economic literacy. The beneficiaries shall further be trained in enterprise selection and given selected enterprise tailored training. The training above provides the beneficiaries with confidence to fully participate in the economic affairs of their homes and communities.
